Our Story

Michelle Pugh and Sandi LucasMichelle Pugh and Sandi Lucas are a mother and daughter creative team that offer a blend of talents to bring your creative vision to life! Michelle established Joonbug Graphic Design in 2006 while working full time as a Senior Graphic Designer at the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. She graduated from The Art Institute of Seattle in 1998. Her work history includes over 23 years of professional graphic design experience working for a variety of employers and clients including Indian Country Today Newspaper, The Olympian Newspaper, The Tacoma News Tribune Newspaper, Washington State Government, local businesses and non-profit organizations. She worked on call as a Senior Graphic Designer for the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission from 2001 through 2017 specializing in agency branding projects including publications, interpretive displays, the agency special license plate, the 2015 multi-Washington State agency Discover Pass design update, Boating Programs products (ie. Seattle Boat Show, Boater Education, etc.), website updates and promotional materials. Michelle recently completed a publications re-branding project for Washington State Parks designing over 100 park brochures and maps while on-call as Senior Graphic Designer from July 2016 through June 2017. Sandi Lucas is Michelle's mother and creative inspiration! She has been a supportive team member of Joonbug Graphic Design since 2006. Sandi illustrates detailed, whimsical and realistic works of art. Her designs have been printed on product package designs for retail companies, interpretive signs for the Washington State Parks Foundation and the Cranberry Lake Forest Education and Research Center. Together, Sandi and Michelle are working on children's book design while enjoying the special bond they have always shared in health and creativity!

Michelle also has a passion for health and wellness! She is an experienced 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher and shares classes at Alderbrook Resort and Spa, the Nisqually Tribe Youth and Community Center, the Squaxin Island Tribe, the Salmon Center, Washington State Department of Labor and Industries on a weekly basis. She leads private yoga retreats, workshops and sessions at other locations throughout Washington State that incorporate a blend of health, wellness and creativity. Her professional experience with small businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies provide a foundation for service in community outreach. Michelle's creativity is influenced by nature, family and other artists. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their 14 year old son where they live and play near the Olympics and Puget Sound – creating, fly fishing, skiing and sharing their love for the great outdoors!
